Icon
These works variously draw on iconographic traditions of the Christian church to reframe ideas of divine subjects and sacred objects. Each evokes questions of materiality in relation to visions and narratives of divine being. Unlike Triptych (2014) and Bambinello, Little Fellow (2015), which explore the easy and popular proliferation of the image, the Performing the Icon (2015) series references choreographic notation more than religious iconography to focus on the more intimate relational and theological possibilities that emerge through the active maternal body.
